Day 156

So, I didn't get this posted last night because of bad weather--which took out our internet. (We made it through safely otherwise, though the same cannot be said of some places in town.)

I just cut the guys' hair! Dad and Josef are both ready for summer--hopefully it gets warmer! But Josef will for sure be more comfortable working out--can I get a buzz? (haha, yeah right.) The Bud Nub was pretty hesitant to let me cut his hair--I had to promise him that he could read my manuscript of Morning Star... so really, I gave something so I could give him the gift of a haircut. Ha. Funny how that works, right?

That was the main event.

God Bless!

Day 155

Today was a family day.

We went out to lunch after church and ran into my Uncle and his friend. So we crashed their table for a couple hours... that poor waitress.

I let Dad borrow my computer cord.

I took a nap...

We went over to Gramma's for supper, that was lovely. I really did have a good time. Great conversation.

I'm learning to love these times spent with family.

God Bless!

Day 154

I gave Dad a break from taking Mom to work today and got up early to do it myself. (I took a nap this afternoon to compensate. haha.)

While Mom was at work I washed up all the dishes that needed to be done by hand.

Josef and I worked on laundry today as well.

It was a good day.

God Bless!

Day 153

Spent the day with Mom--she had the day off work.

So I watched a chick-flick with her.
We both cried, though she more than I.

When she started her workout Dad called, he was ready to come home from work.
So...I went and got him for her.

God Bless!

Day 152

I took the Hansi-dog to the vet today to get shots and his toenails clipped... It was hard to leave him, he was shaking so bad, but it was great to pick him up again because he was so ecstatic. "Look, Anna! I survived! Look at my tail wag! I'm so happy to see you again! You didn't forget me!" Guess who's in the car, Hansi? "Round-headed boy? Round-headed boy? ROUND-HEADED BOY!"

Yes. I am slightly crazy. But so is our dog, so it's okay. :) And, for the record, I think he knows my name better than everyone else's. :) That makes me happy.

I picked Mom up from work today because Dad was still crazy busy--he just stopped working at about 11, and that wasn't because it was done, just because it was obscenely late. :( Laptop=awesome UNLESS it means work can travel home with you.

Josef and I made supper tonight--burgers and sweet potato bites! mmm, it was good stuff.

I helped Josef with his application to a local bookstore. And I helped him with his resume. Hopefully it pans out the way he wants it to. But we'll just have to wait and see.

God Bless!

Day 151

Today was a little more exciting. I finished reading that book (woo!). I took my brother to school and picked him up.

And I met some friends for dinner that were in town. It was lovely to just talk to them all again.

I even got to pop in on a friend who was sitting on her porch as I drove by her house. That was great...and sounds kind of creeperish when I say it that way. I was in no way creeping on her, I just happened to be driving past her house and she was outside. Totally innocent. Haha.

God Bless!

Day 150!

150 days! Woo! That's a long time.... wow, this year is just flying by.

Today was devoted to reading and working out mostly.

I did help Mom clear the table, and I got the drink from the garage before dinner.

...other than that, I had my nose in a book.

God Bless!

Day 149

I spent the day with my brother--he didn't have school. It was great. I wish we could have days like this more often.

God Bless!

Day 148

-I took Mom to the store.
-I put gas in the car.
-I ran into JoAnn's to get transparent thread.
-I spent time with a bunch of eighth graders for Sunday School.
-I played video games with Josef again.

God Bless

EDIT: Upon inspection of this post, I have realized that I lied to you. I did not spend Sunday School with eighth graders. I spent it with high schoolers....which is a huge difference, so I'm not sure how that happened. Anyways....

Day 147

Yesterday was a big day. I spent over 5 hours on the road, which isn't terribly long, but it's a substantial amount of time.

I went to Omaha with my cousin, Kaitlin, to go to a graduation party of one of our second cousins, Sarah. It was like having a mini family reunion. And I've decided that I really like that side of the family. They're awesome. Sarah's mom told us before we left that it meant a lot to her that we were there to support her daughter. She said it almost made her cry. That struck me--I should see these people more than just once a year.

When we got home, we got back into a different car and went to Hastings. We were supporting my friend Nathan at a performance he was giving. It was wonderful. I'm so proud of him.

That's pretty much it.

God Bless!

Day 146

I took my brother to school and picked him up again... which was an adventure due to HEAVY rain. He practically had to jump a stream to get in the car.

I also made kabobs for dinner (with the help of my brother). It was pretty decent. Maybe a little over cooked. Lessons for next time.

God Bless!

Day 145

Well, I took my brother to school this morning...

And I helped Mom get supper figured out tonight.

I fixed our DVD player! That's the big gift today. ha.

God Bless!

Day 144

I played video games with my brother again today--which is always entertaining. You know how some people on YouTube record themselves playing so that there is a commentary with the game? (Yeah, that's nerd of me to even mention.) Well, I was wondering today if Josef and I would be funny enough for that to go over well in the YouTube world--not that we have the equipment, it would just be silly.

Also, I made sweet potato fries...and I officially have more respect for Janzow for making those for us. The boys and I were able to have a good dinner though.

God Bless!

Day 143

A couple of things today.

I rented a video game (I know, kind of weird) to play with my brother in the next couple of days. Lego Star Wars III. It's challenging, to say the least, but it's a fun giving of my time.

When we got home, I washed the dishes (without Mom asking, woo!) and loaded the dishwasher. After the folks got home we tidied up the rest of the living room and dining room.

My friend, Deana, came over this evening. She's just starting out with Mary Kay and needed to do 27 more free facials. I worked it out with Mom for her to come over and give us both facials. She got the practice she needs and we got smooth faces. It was a good evening.

God Bless!

Day 142

Today was kind of a lazy day. I did work on my room some more. (Ha.) And for dinner I made homemade french fries (baked). I could do sweet potato fries sometime....but I feel like that's a battle I'm just not quite ready for yet. Anyway, the fries I made were good! And then we collectively helped Mom clear the table (even Dad helped). It was a good day.

God Bless!

Days 140 and 141

Day 140:

Yesterday was Saturday. That mean's workday in this household. (generally) So I continued the work in my room. You're probably thinking to yourself: "Good grief, she's been working on that stupid room forever!" Let me tell you, I have a ton of stuff. Stuff that I don't remember owning. But anyway, the point is that I have found a lot of random things that actually DON'T belong to me, and I returned those to various people in the house. (various is probably to big of a word for the three other people that live here.)

Day 141:

Sunday. A good day. I basically made dinner, with the guidance of my momma. We had turkey (in our rotisserie) and sweet potato cubes. By the way, if you have never cut a raw sweet potato...oh. my. word. That was a battle. I should have gotten a metal for that one. Haha. Just kidding.... but really.

Anyways....

God Bless!

Day 139

So today I was my mother's arms. Sound strange? That's okay, it kind of is. Mom is still battling this arm thing, so I took her out shopping today. And I lifted two charcoal bags (which were saran wrapped together, thank you Sam's Club). I felt like a gorilla. And I announced it to Sam's. "I'm a freakin' gorilla!" Mom didn't say anything but look at me, and I know she was thinking, "you're a nut." And she's right. But I helped her with all her groceries, dang it. So she can just put up with my craziness once in a while.

On another note, my brother and I got into a serious "fruity stick" fight. Sounds like we were fighting over fruit rollups, right? WRONG. Through this room cleaning escapade, I found a tube that once housed/held wrapping paper. My brother and I have this thing about the Lion King and Raffiki's staff--we call it his fruity stick. Well. Combine that idea with an empty wrapping paper tube and you get a perfect tool to use for beating on your little brother. It was fun. Until it broke in half. And we each had half. My arms are/were definitely a brighter shade of red. We laughed a lot. Mom and Dad thought we were nuts. And we are. I believe Dad's comment was, "I feel like I'm in a Monty Python skit." It was great. I love summer.

God Bless

Day 138

Blogger was down yesterday so I wasn't able to post--this time it wasn't my fault. Haha!

Okay, so, there were tornadoes in Nebraska last night. That means that I offered up my room as shelter to several different computers and backpacks. That was my gift--basement room as shelter. Even it if wasn't spick and span, it was still safety.

God Bless!

Days 135, 136, and 137

Oi. I got really behind this time, sorry about that. Hopefully I can remember back that far...

Day 135:

Monday. Oh Monday... well, Mom and I started this "cleanse" thing... and that was rough. But we were able to support one another as we battled headaches, probably brought on by caffeine withdraws, and hunger. But we're trying to get healthy again. (It's hard to pretend to be a vegetarian for three days when you rely on protein coming from meat for 20 years of your life.)

Day 136:

The headaches were worse on Tuesday.

After my brother got home from school I sat in his room and watched some YouTube videos with him, even though I still had a messy room looming over me. It was fun though, and the gift of time is truly a precious one.

Day 137:

Wednesday brought on frantic cleaning in an attempt to make enough room for the rest of my stuff to fit in... I wasn't quite successful. But I'm getting there! I'm so much closer than I had been!

I also got to visit with my friend Sara for a while. She's going to Italy this week. She's pretty nervous about the luggage situation, but I assured her that she is going to be fine and that she is going to have a great time. I'm excited for her.

God Bless!

Days 133 and 134

First off, I'm sorry I've been so bad about posting every night... it keeps slipping my mind, and this may just be a trend for the summer. Sadly.

Day 133:

Well, I worked on my room a lot, which is a giving to my dad because that means I'll be getting my stuff out of the living room and the garage. yay!

Day 134:

Still working on my room... ha. This is a big project. Lots of purging happening. I let my brother sit on my bed and read for a while, which I don't normally do. I went to a graduation party! And gave her a card with some money in it... and yeah.

God Bless!

Friday, May 6, 2011

Days 131 and 132

Day 131:

Well, it was move out day...so really I wasn't very giving to anyone. Andrew helped me move out...and I gave him a hug... and I gave my roommate a hug... yeah.

Day 132:

I drove my brother around to grad parties, that was fun.

God Bless!

Days 129 and 130

Day 129:

Structure trees. Several structure trees. I like doing them, most of the time. For my take home Ling and Lang final I worked with some girls on them... and well, I had the firmest grasp on what was happening. So I helped the others with the steps quite a bit.

Day 130:

Well, I spent most of my day slaving over a paper... and that's okay. Really, I ended up being kind of a crabapple. I feel bad about snapping at some friend... it's just that the end of the year came right on time, if we had another week of school I may just go crazy. I did give a lot of hugs at the bonfire tonight. That was nice.

God Bless!

Day 128

It was the first day of finals, and I spent most of that time in my room finishing up projects. I also had a poetry reading at The Gallery. It went well. I was able to give my words to a crowded room--there were way more people then I had been anticipating. But it was good. And once I was on that stage, I really wasn't nervous anymore. It just a simple sharing.

God Bless

Day 127

I took a friend home with me to a concert yesterday. It was a lot of fun, and a good way to de-stress a little. Now, I'm off to do more work on my finals. Wish me luck!

Day 126

I had a roommate date this evening. We watched a movie, and then we chilled out and talked for a little over an hour. It was good. And I think we both needed it--a time to just be and talk freely.

God Bless!
