Day 186

A friend is getting married, and I'm super stoked. She asked me if I would be willing to be a bridesmaid, and I couldn't be happier. :)

Otherwise, I fed the cats today.

God Bless!

Day 185

I went and got coffee with a friend from high school...and it turned into a six hour ordeal. (Sara, I love you.) It was great, and obviously needed since we talked for so long.

I also went to the store for my mom after depositing a check for her.

Bible study tonight, it was good.

Ice cream and movie with Sara and Josef after Bible Study--super fun.

God Bless!

Day 184

I went to coffee today with a friend and we had a great conversation that ranged from the book that I'm writing, to a conference I'm going to help him put together (super excited!).

I cleaned up my cousin's yard - people in town are gross with their trash habits, and fast food wrappers are disgusting. Also, I vacuumed, that was fun.

That's about it.

God Bless!

Day 183

Not sure why I didn't post last night... the cats probably distracted me.

I spent the majority of my day supporting my mom as she had her first home show with Beachbody products. And, it was fairly successful! She has a lady signing up as a coach this week and starting Shakeology. It was exciting.

We also went to meeting after church to support our family friends. You see, at this meeting they announced to the church that they were joining the mission field full time and moving to Zambia. We already knew, but wanted to be there to support their decision. It was hard to listen to it all again, but we needed to be there. Keep them in your prayers as they prepare for this life changing event, and keep their three kids in your payers as well.

God Bless!

Day 182

Wedding day.

Josef and I road-tripped to the location, which was a lot of fun.

So basically spent my day celebrating with some good friends.

I do enjoy weddings a good deal. :)

God Bless!

Day 181

I ran around doing errands with Mom again today. I am driving a rental car now, which is way better than not having a car at all. (It's actually a really nice vehicle.)

When I got back home tonight my cousin called me, and I did about an hour of tech-work for her deleting various accounts in various places. She's trying to clean up her life, and I will help her do that in any way possible.

God Bless!

Day 180

More house sitting business...

Went to the store with Mom this evening. It was good to see her, since I'm kind of living elsewhere right now. But we ended with talking about the car situation, and that was frustrating.

God Bless!

Day 179

I cleaned up cat urine this morning, first thing. Ick.

This evening we had a team meeting for Beachbody. It was good. I helped name our team: The Scallywags. I think it's amusing, anyway. :)

By the way, if you're looking for a meal replacement (shake) that is gluten free, vegetarian, and has a low glycemic index, I can hook you up. :) Oh, the things you learn....

God Bless!

Day 178

Sorry I didn't post last night, I was not in the same location as my computer. House sitting means that my stuff is strewn across two different houses. It's kind of strange.

Well, let's see.... I played with the cats and fed them.
When I was home-home, I cleaned up my area in the living room even more--it doesn't exist anymore. And I spent some time with my brother.

I'm officially a Beachbody Coach! (Which, isn't so much giving...but it will be.) So, if you need any kind of workout program or Shakeology, let me know! I can hook you up!

God Bless!

Days 176 and 177

Day 176:
It was Father's Day, so I gave my Daddy his gift, and Josef and I made dinner.
I also received a phone call from my cousin, someone I haven't talked to nearly enough. So I listened. Even though sometimes it was painful.

Day 177:
Day one of house sitting. Here's to three weeks worth of giving!

God Bless!

Day 175

Sorry I didn't get this up last night--the day ended crazy.

I helped my brother film a wedding that he was hired to do--his first gig! (And consequently, mine as well.)  It was strange, but good practice. I went out and got us food after we had been there and hour and discovered that the wedding didn't start for another two hours. The wedding coordinator hadn't eaten anything either, and so I asked her if she wanted anything. I got her a large Diet Coke, which was all she wanted.

After the wedding we went to our Aunt and Uncle's 30th wedding anniversary party. And that was a lot of fun.

If you want to read about how my day ended, why it was so crazy, I'll be posting in my "Pieces of a Life" blog shortly. Once that's done, I'll post the link here.

God Bless!

Day 174

Well.... I cleaned up some of my stuff out of the living room. Honestly, I'm not the only one in my family that makes piles that collect things, we all do it. And actually, my pile is fairly contained. (Sorry, LeAnn, for doing this in a dorm room. I really do try to do less of it.) However, Mom made a comment about me living out of not only my room but also the living room...which really isn't fair because I do live in the house, not just my room, and it is the "living room." But, I took the hint and got some of my stuff out of there, not that there was a lot of it. Anyways...

I also went and picked up the pizza for supper tonight, and the movies. We watched "True Grit." And generally I'm anti-remake. Especially when it involves John Wayne originals... (Why would you ever want to replace the Duke?) But this was a great remake, I loved it. I laughed on several occasions and thoroughly enjoyed the lack of contractions in the dialogue.

Yeah.

God Bless!

Day 173

Today I wrote several letters--a giving of a portion of my heart to some dear friends.

I also started doing a serious cleansing of the bathroom today--will finish that tomorrow.

It was a good day, one filled with laughter with my Momma.

God Bless!

Day 172

So, the guys are home and they brought with them a large amount of laundry. This means that I did several loads of laundry for them this afternoon.

I worked on some dishes for my Mom.

I cut up a melon for dinner.

And then there was the sending off. The first five chapters of my book and the prologue have been sent to a professor-friend and classmate-friend. I'm looking forward to the critiques.

God Bless!

Days 170 and 171

Day 170:
I went clothes shopping with Mom again after work. It was successful! Actually, it was around 9:30 pm and we decided we wanted to watch a movie, so I drove back in to town to rent one for us. I didn't get the one I was hoping for, but "Leap Year" was still good.

Day 171:
The guys got home today! So I went to the store with Mom after doing some stuff around the house for her today. It was good.

God Bless!

Days 167, 168, and 169

Alright, I haven't posted in a while, but there's a good reason. I've been out of town. Actually, I've been out of state. But it's been a good chance for me to give to some people in ways that haven't come up before.

Day 167:
(Friday) I drove my mom to Iowa--a five hour drive. This is the longest I have ever driven in one go before. It was good, and uneventful. This drive involved me packing up all of our stuff into the car because Mom can't carry anything over 1lb, and it also meant unpacking everything once we got to Grandma and Grandpa's. Normally this is something I would have help with (Josef and Dad). We went out to the big parade thing, and I pushed Grandma in her wheelchair all over the place. (It's too much work for Grandpa to be doing, even though he does it when we're not there. Normally this is something Dad does when we visit, but he wasn't with us, so I took on the responsibility.)

Day 168:
(Saturday) I went to the parade downtown with my grandparents and took pictures (tons and tons of pictures). When Mom came by on her float, I got pictures of her too! (It was her 30th class reunion, crazy.) Coincidentally, I got sunburned. Badly. I helped burp my cousin's baby after lunch--she spit up all over me. I also helped keep an eye on her three other, very, mobile kiddos. This is when a bad sunburn turned into a horrendous sunburn. But it was fun. That night, while Mom was at her reunion, I spent time with my Grandma mostly when we got back to their place. (Grandpa fell asleep in his chair.) I took her shoes of for her before taking Grandpa's off for him. I helped her get some Aloe Vera on the back of her neck. Then I helped her get into her nightgown among other things that an older lady needs help with. (It's surprisingly difficult for a woman that can't walk very well to step out of her slacks.) And then I helped her get her homepage reset on Safari and got some other technical things taken care with her computer. And then we sat up and talked about how all of her siblings (there are 8 of them) found their spouses, it was fun. :)

Day 169:
(Sunday) We went to church with the grandparents, where I helped push Grandma in her wheelchair again. (Short trips mean they take the wheelchair, but long outings get the power chair.) We went out to lunch. I helped Grandpa get the chair loaded up in the van. (I felt like the female version of Tarzan on weekend.) Then I loaded up the car for Mom when we got back to the apartment. It didn't take long before we were on the road again. I didn't drive the whole way back because I was in desperate need of a nap. So, I drove for three of the five hours. It was good. Got home, I unloaded the car. And relaxed.

God Bless!

Day 166

I woke up super early today (5:45) to take my dad and brother to a church where they were meeting with their fellow Boy Scouts. They're going on a trip to South Dakota. So I woke up early to take them and bring the truck back home. That was fun. (ha.)

Mom's work had a huge sale today, so I went in and helped with that. (They paid me, but I didn't have to do it, so I feel like it's still giving? Maybe?) I sold an old lady two lamps! All by myself! (I'm actually really super proud about that.)

After we got done with work and eating out, Mom and I went shopping. Mom's pretty indecisive when it comes to clothes shopping... she walked around with the same pair of jeans for like.... 30minutes before trying them on. I had already tried on at least 9 dresses and a few tops. She did end up getting the jeans, and I got a top and some dress ideas for a summer wedding I'm attending. Overall it was good, but it required patience.

God Bless!

Day 165

Josef and I made supper for the family tonight--he grilled the steaks and I made the fries.

I took Hansi-dog out for a walk, something I think he enjoyed.

I gave Josef a couple pens to take on his trip.

God Bless!

Day 164

Today, I took the car in to get the oil changed.

And my brother to get some more patches for his uniform, which I a secured.

I went to the mall and got Mom some lotion and spray gel for her hair.

I rented a couple movies for the family. ("The Tourist" is excellent, by the way. "The Guardians of Ga'Hoole" however that's spelled, was surprisingly good, REALLY good.)

I loaded the dishwasher.

Yup.

God Bless!

Day 163

The job search continues...

But other than that, my main thing today was securing patches on Boy Scout uniforms. It's kind of a pain...but it needed to be done, and so I did it for the guys.

I also held the door for some lady at JoAnn's.

God Bless!

Day 162

Today we went to Kearney. We had to get a bunch of stuff for the guys because they're going on a huge Boy Scout trip on Thursday morning. So, I patiently waited while they tried on boots and all kinds of things.

I helped clear and set the table tonight as well.

God Bless!

Day 161

What a day.

Today, I mowed about 70% of the yard for my dad. I would have done the whole thing (all four acres) but my shoulders were really bothering. As it is, it's a good thing I did stop because I am quite the lovely shade of red right now. That's right. Sunburn. And a pretty good one at that.

I picked Mom up from work today...and then took her to the store. Now, at this point I was absolutely exhausted. But I went anyway. While we were in the store, some lady's car rolled into ours--she forgot to put the break on or something weird. We got paged, and then I went out to the car to offer Mom moral support. The car was fine, it was just a fluke deal.

Yeah, and then tonight I was watching Josef edit this awesome stopmotion video he's making, and helped him with some stuff...it's complicated, so I won't go into details.

I'm tired.

God Bless!

Day 160

Today was spent on skype with a dear friend--there was much laughing. Listen to my secrets and I will bear yours as well. I do cherish this friendship because it is open and honest, even about the uncomfortable things. An hour and a half later, I was smiling and laughing for the rest of the day. (People should keep in better contact, period. We'd all be a lot happier.)

Last night I gave my brother the first five chapters of my book... I don't remember if I mentioned that or not, so there it is again.

Support for a fellow writer. We can do this because we are brave hearts seeking to tell a story that is not our own but is deeply imbedded in our souls.

Dinner for the brother again--tacos!

God Bless!

Day 159

Once again, I drove my brother around. I took him to get his scout pants altered, and to drop off applications. Hopefully we'll both end up with jobs after this.

After dinner, I helped Mom clear the table and ran the dishwasher.

That's about it.

Oh yeah, I got a couple letters sent out. And now I'm out of envelopes, so I'll have to get more of those.

God Bless!

Day 158

What a day.

I dragged my brother around town with me. But it was for his own good. Mom and Dad have been after him to get a job this summer. He hasn't been very active in that pursuit. So, he came with me and I drove all over the place, and we picked up applications. (For both of us.) He may have been a little annoyed, but he'll thank me when he starts getting checks.

I also made dinner for the guys (and myself). Mom had to work late, which means I get KP (Kitchen Patrol, for those that haven't watched "White Christmas" or know military jargon).

Yup...there was other stuff too, but it was not related to giving.

God Bless!

Day 157

No storms tonight--praise God.

I helped Mom with some odd jobs around the house.

I also talked to another writer about writing, and how refreshing that can be for both parties. I wish that we were not an hour away from one another. (That I was not so far away from so many writing friends that I have come to cherish very dearly.)

God Bless!
