Days 167, 168, and 169

Alright, I haven't posted in a while, but there's a good reason. I've been out of town. Actually, I've been out of state. But it's been a good chance for me to give to some people in ways that haven't come up before.

Day 167:
(Friday) I drove my mom to Iowa--a five hour drive. This is the longest I have ever driven in one go before. It was good, and uneventful. This drive involved me packing up all of our stuff into the car because Mom can't carry anything over 1lb, and it also meant unpacking everything once we got to Grandma and Grandpa's. Normally this is something I would have help with (Josef and Dad). We went out to the big parade thing, and I pushed Grandma in her wheelchair all over the place. (It's too much work for Grandpa to be doing, even though he does it when we're not there. Normally this is something Dad does when we visit, but he wasn't with us, so I took on the responsibility.)

Day 168:
(Saturday) I went to the parade downtown with my grandparents and took pictures (tons and tons of pictures). When Mom came by on her float, I got pictures of her too! (It was her 30th class reunion, crazy.) Coincidentally, I got sunburned. Badly. I helped burp my cousin's baby after lunch--she spit up all over me. I also helped keep an eye on her three other, very, mobile kiddos. This is when a bad sunburn turned into a horrendous sunburn. But it was fun. That night, while Mom was at her reunion, I spent time with my Grandma mostly when we got back to their place. (Grandpa fell asleep in his chair.) I took her shoes of for her before taking Grandpa's off for him. I helped her get some Aloe Vera on the back of her neck. Then I helped her get into her nightgown among other things that an older lady needs help with. (It's surprisingly difficult for a woman that can't walk very well to step out of her slacks.) And then I helped her get her homepage reset on Safari and got some other technical things taken care with her computer. And then we sat up and talked about how all of her siblings (there are 8 of them) found their spouses, it was fun. :)

Day 169:
(Sunday) We went to church with the grandparents, where I helped push Grandma in her wheelchair again. (Short trips mean they take the wheelchair, but long outings get the power chair.) We went out to lunch. I helped Grandpa get the chair loaded up in the van. (I felt like the female version of Tarzan on weekend.) Then I loaded up the car for Mom when we got back to the apartment. It didn't take long before we were on the road again. I didn't drive the whole way back because I was in desperate need of a nap. So, I drove for three of the five hours. It was good. Got home, I unloaded the car. And relaxed.

God Bless!
